DocMGR
From DocMGR
DocMGR is a complete, web-based Document Management System (DMS). It allows for the storage of any file type, and supports full-text indexing of the most popular document formats. It is available in many different languages and is easy to translate into new languages. DocMGR runs on PHP, the Apache webserver, and Postgresql. It optionally uses tsearch2 for full-text indexing which provides for faster search results and result ranking. DocMGR supports LDAP authentication, the ability to easily add and remove "objects" for storage in the system, document workflow, object subscriptions, WebDAV access, and an ever-growing set of features revolving around content storage.
The current version is 0.58, which may be downloaded from Sourceforge
This wiki is dedicated to documenting the installation and usage of DocMGR in different client and server environments. It is my hope the DocMGR community will be able to contribute and complete a more robust documentation system for use by DocMGR administrators and users.

DocMGR News
March 18, 2007 - DocMGR 0.58 Released
The first release in several months is finally out. Unfortunately, there aren't too many new features. Among the list are PDF Exporting for DocMGR documents and workflow event logging. The biggest new feature is I have removed the dual-licensing for DocMGR. It is now GPL only to encourage contributions from outside developers. My availability for working on the project has become quite low, and the project is not progressing as fast as it could. I think DocMGR has a large enough community that it can thrive far beyond what I can do for it by myself.
Please see the Development page for more information about contributing to the project.
November 1, 2006 - DocMGR 0.57.3 Released
Another bugfix release with the browse pagination problem finally resolved, and a couple other issues. Upgraders will want to recreate their config.php file, as a couple of options have changed since the 0.57.2 release. Thanks to everyone who helped me test the fixes. Changelog
October 19, 2006 - DocMGR 0.57.2 Released
We're practicing the "Release early, release often" policy this week. A few issues were found which I thought were important enough to warrant another release. Changelog
October 17, 2006 - DocMGR 0.57.1 Released
Apparently I didn't do enough testing in Internet Explorer. This point release addresses the issues brought up in the forums that I could reproduce (one or two I couldn't). 0.57 users upgrading to do not have to do any database upgrades. Simply migrate your files directory and config directory to the newly downloaded release. Thanks to everyone for their feedback. Changelog.

July 11, 2006 - DocMGR 0.56.3 Released
In the spirit of the week, I've released another point release. I've been trying to stay on top of the issues brought up in the forums for 0.56, which is the reason for the frequency of the point releases. Thanks for everyone's help. Don't forget to check the Changelog.
July 9, 2006 - DocMGR 0.56.2 Released
I've found several more bugs over the weekend and decided to go ahead and issue another release to address them. Among them include clamav not being called correctly, and encapsulated pdfs not being indexed properly. It is recommended all 0.56.x users upgrade immediately due to the clamav issue. If you are already running 0.56, you do not need to run the upgrade.php script. Changelog.
July 7, 2006 - DocMGR 0.56.1 Released
In trying to keep up with the issues addressed in the forums over the past week, I've released 0.56.1. Thanks to everyone's hard work who went the extra step to find the causes of problems they may have been experiencing. Changelog.

I look forward to your feedback.
March 21, 2006 - DocMGR 0.55.3 Released
Sorry everyone. It was brought to my attention that two tables were missing from the database creation and upgrade scripts. I've re-added them, fixed two bugs mentioned in the forums, and issued a new release. If you've already upgraded to 0.55, just run the scripts/upgrade-55.php script when done upgrading to add the missing tables to your database. Here's the Changelog.

Another bugfix release in the 0.55.x branch, there are a great number of bugfixes included in this release. Thanks to everyone who contributed to this release by submitting patches and offering feedback. Don't forget to check the Changelog.
February 25, 2006 - DocMGR 0.55.1 Released

February 23, 2006 - DocMGR 0.55 Released!
A new release is finally out with several important features and bugfixes. DocMGR now has an inline-document type. You can create, edit and view the object all from within DocMGR. FCKEditor has been selected as the inline editor, along with a few personal tweaks to the image and link selectors. This allows the display of other images stored in DocMGR within the document itself. You can also link to other objects with DocMGR. Several workflow improvements and object subscription improvements have been made. Please see the Changelog for more details.
January 02, 2006 - DocMGR 0.54.2 Released
Another bugfix release for the 0.54 branch, this one includes several bugfixes which are both security and usability related. It is recommended all 0.54 users upgrade to this release. For 0.54 users, you may safely migrate your files/ directory and config.php file from the old installation to the new one when you upgrade. See the Changelog for details on all the changes.
Happy New Year!!!
December 28, 2005 - DocMGR's new website is live
DocMGR's website has been moved over to a wiki format. I've switched to a wiki format to allow for easier contribution of information from our users to the community. You will need to create an account for yourself to make changes on this site, and not all pages are editable (but most are).
December 19, 2005 - 0.54.1 Released
0.54.1 is a bugfix release addressing issues brought to my attention in the forums over the past week. Check the changelog for details. 0.54 users can just migrate the config.php file and files/ directory from the old installation to the new one.
December 12, 2005 - 0.54 Released
0.54 is out with a ton of new features and enhancements. Some of these include a background file indexing, faster searches, and a new object/helper implementation for developers.
Thanks to everyone who contributed to this release. It is by far the best one yet. We've come a long way in the past year, but we still have a long ways to go. Thanks for everyone's contributions and support.
September 24, 2005 - 0.53.3 Released
This is another bugfix release to address issues found by our users and posted in the forums. Thanks to all of our users for bringing these issues to our attention, and being patient while we get the fixes in and a new release out.
September 14, 2005 - 0.53.2 Released
0.53.2 has been released to address several bugs mentioned in the forums. Also, it contains several fixes regarding the webdav server. I'd like to thank Timo Springmann for his contributions in this release.

August 27, 2005 - 0.53 Released (Really!!!)
0.53 is finally out with several new features and a good amount of bugfixes. I hope everyone is happy with this release and appreciate any feedback. One of the major new features is Ajax-based collection browsing. I feel this has resulted in a much more responsive browsing experience. The Collection Tree is also Ajax based. This means the entire tree does not have to be loaded at every page reload anymore. Also new the ability to save your search queries. See the changelog for details on the new features and bugfixes.
August 25, 2005 - 0.53 NOT Released
I posted a message to the forum and sent out a file release notification saying 0.53 is out. But, it's not. There is an issue I've stumbled upon which must be addressed. I will keep everyone posted...
June 30, 2005 - 0.52.1 Released
This is a follow up release to address a major issue discovered by one of our users. DocMGR was not parsing a config file correctly, and possibly causing certain files to not be indexed or thumbnailed properly. Users upgrading from 0.52 can simply replace the config/extensions.xml file with the new file from this release. See the changelog for details.
June 26, 2005 - 0.52 Released
0.52 is out with some important bugfixes and a few new features providing options asked for by our users in the forums. Because there is a security fix, I recommend all 0.5x users to upgrade to 0.52. Upgrading from 0.51 to 0.52 does not require the use of the upgrade scripts, and the 0.51 language files will work with 0.52.
I had planned for more features for this release, but I was on vacation for a week, and have been playing catch up ever since. This release addresses some issues that I felt shouldn't wait any longer. See the changelog for full details.
May 24, 2005 - 0.51 Released
The next release of DocMGR is out with a great deal of new features and bugfixes. Some of the new features include ClamAV scanning support, File Checksum verification, email to non-docmgr users, and better MS Word indexing and thumbnail support. I'd like to think Suretec Systems (http://www.suretecsystems.com) for sponsoring many of the new features, and thanks to kristov for his patch submissions for new features and bugfixes.
April 22, 2005 - 0.50.1 Released
Based on a few bugs reported by our users, 0.50.1 has been released to address these issues. See the changelog for details. For 0.50 users, the affected files are listed in the changelog, in case you do not want to update the entire package. If you do wish to update the entire package, just copy the config/config.inc.php file and the files/ directory over to the new release.
All future DocMGR Releases will be numbered this way. Any major release containing new features will be a 0.XX release. Bugfixes to a 0.XX release will be numbered 0.XX.x. Database updates will be avoided unless absolutely necessary during 0.XX.x releases.
April 19, 2005 - 0.50 Released!!!
After many months without a major release, 0.50 is now available to the public. There are a great deal of changes, both to the database and interface of DocMGR. I reached a point where I felt some design changes need to be made to allow for future growth of DocMGR. The new structure allows for easier addition of different object types, and for new modules for additional functionality. See the changelog for more details.
There have been a lot of database changes, so anyone upgrading will notice that your data is migrated to a new database, instead of the old database structure being altered. This allows for a clean start, and for those upgrading to test DocMGR without having to make a copy of their old database and perform the upgrades on that copy. Now, you can just run the upgrade (after backing up your data), copy the data files over, and give it a try.
With this release, I will begin accepting outside contributions to DocMGR. I am looking for people to improve certain modules. For example, I am looking for a better quick category browser, and for a more complete webdav utility. Developers may also create additional modules which may be downloaded from this website, if it is decided they will not be included in the standard release. I feel DocMGR could greatly benefit from outside development, as I can't always devote as much time as I want to the project. I am picky about what goes into the project, but I am willing to work with anyone.
Documentation will be released on this website soon which shows how to modify or create new modules. Those who are interested can also email me directly for more information at elawman@eastwestp.com.
